Psalms 5

Lead Me in Your Righteousness

To the choirmaster: for the flutes. A Psalm of David.

Give ear to my words, O  Lord;
consider my a groaning.
Give attention to the sound of my cry,
my b King and my God,
for c to you do I pray.
O  Lord, in d the morning you hear my voice;
in the morning I prepare a sacrifice for you
Or  I direct my prayer to you
and f watch.
For you are not a God who delights in wickedness;
evil may not dwell with you.
The g boastful shall not h stand before your eyes;
you i hate all evildoers.
You destroy those who speak j lies;
the  Lord abhors k the bloodthirsty and deceitful man.
But I, through the abundance of your steadfast love,
will enter your house.
I will l bow down m toward your n holy temple
in the fear of you.
o Lead me, O  Lord, in your righteousness
because of my enemies;
p make your way straight before me.
For there is no truth in their mouth;
their inmost self is q destruction;
r their throat is s an open grave;
they t flatter with their tongue.
10  u Make them bear their guilt, O God;
let them v fall by their own counsels;
because of the abundance of their transgressions cast them out,
for they have rebelled against you.
11  But let all who w take refuge in you x rejoice;
let them ever sing for joy,
and spread your protection over them,
that those who love your name may y exult in you.
12 For you z bless the righteous, O  Lord;
you aa cover him with favor as with ab a shield.
